Halloween celebrations at Boandik St Mary’s

RESIDENTS at Boandik St Mary’s handled snakes and lizards as part of their annual Halloween celebrations on Tuesday.

The Reptile Room’s Carolyn Dean visits the aged care facility on Halloween each year to introduce residents to a number of her scaly friends.

St Mary’s lifestyle coordinator Cindy Crozier said the annual event, now in its fifth year, was always a hit with residents and staff.

“Staff members and their children are invited as well,” Ms Crozier said.

“It is great for our residents – many of them come from a farming background and have that fear of snakes deeply ingrained.

“They have always believed a good snake is a dead snake, but Carolyn’s presentation is very educational and they do get really brave and overcome that fear.”
