1934 Chevrolet Tudor

THIS striking 1934 Chevrolet Tudor, owned by David Holdsworth featured in the largest display of hot rods and custom-built cars in Mount Gambier this year.

Mr Holdsworth said he always desired to have the vehicle since he was young, and eventually bought it from a friend in Mount Gambier.

The car has a 383 Chevy Strocker engine with around 400 to 420 horse power.

The car has been completely restored and all work was done locally.

“We changed it from a four door to a two door,” Mr Holdsworth said.

In addition the car’s guards and bonnet – which are made from steel – were hand-molded to suit its body type.

“I had an idea of what I wanted and had it custom painted and paneled in Mount Gambier,” Mr Holdsworth said.

The interior was also redone and the engine and differentials rebuilt.

“Around 90pc of the vehicle’s parts were sourced locally, with just a few little things found on the web from America,” Mr Holdsworth said.

The vehicle is mostly used in various car rallies and on occasional weekend drives.

Mr Holdsworth is a member of the Lake City Rodders car club, with the car winning a number of awards during the four years it has been with the owner.

It won best tudor in its class in Adelaide at the Extreme Auto Exhibition in 2017 and also came top five in its class at the same show,” he said.
