PENOLA businesswoman and entrepreneur Simone Kain will join a peer group to advise Premier Steven Marshall on how to attract and retain young global talent in South Australia.

Ms Kain – who co-owns creative agency Hello Friday and co-founded the educational brand George The Farmer – has been selected as one 40 participants under the age of 40 to take part in the ForceForty program.

Planning to attend the launch event next week, Ms Kain said the ForceForty program was a chance to encourage population growth strategies for regional areas.

“It is an opportunity to show we can work from anywhere,” Ms Kain said.

“I have worked from a home-based office for over 20 years, working with clients right across Australia and working regionally offers a better lifestyle and provides a lot of opportunities to be more creative and productive.

“We are accessible to capital cities through the Mount Gambier airport and it is a much more affordable lifestyle and is great for young families.”

Ms Kain said COVID-19 and the subsequent restrictions had shown businesses it was possible to work differently and remotely, opening the door to more creativity and productivity.

“That is a win-win situation for all and the program is focusing on how do we encourage younger people to move to South Australia,” Ms Kain said.

“There are a lot of issues I want to push including more sustainability in the state and looking closer at the local food supply and what is already available in the state to make it more self sufficient.

“Being socially responsible is also an important issue for the younger generations and we need to push ourselves to be a social state and invest more money in community and creating better collaboration between community and government and within government organisations themselves to achieve this.”
