YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES: A program providing 72 students experiencing disadvantage or disengagement will be funded under the OneFortyOne Capacity Building Grants.

Foodbank Limestone Coast, The South East Junction and a program supporting disadvantaged secondary students are among this year’s recipients of the OneFortyOne Community Capacity Building Grants.

The food relief organisation received $3000 for the pilot Home Hamper Delivery Program, a delivery service for people experiencing food insecurity due to COVID-19.

The grant will help Foodbank build capacity in its distribution model, resulting in food hampers distributed free of charge to vulnerable community members.

The South East Junction Mental Health Activity and Resource Centre has been granted $9500 to provide a resilience training program encouraging people to grow and thrive in the face of challenges.

$15,000 will flow to Youth Opportunities Association (SA) for the delivery of four personal leadership programs to 72 secondary school students who are experiencing disadvantage or disengagement.

Students from Mount Gambier, Grant and Millicent high and Allendale East Area schools will participate in the program.

Operation Flinders 2020 exercise program will receive $16,500 to support 10 young Limestone Coast residents participate in an evidence-backed outback intervention program.

Crucial firefighting equipment for the Padthaway Primary School and Preschool, including an emergency water tank and fire hose, will be funded by a $6000 grant.

Established in 2014, the grants are administered by OneFortyOne, which has provided $230,000 to the region through the funding program.

OneFortyOne Australia executive general manager Cameron MacDonald said the organisation was proud to support projects that provide lasting impacts across the region.

“To OneFortyOne, it’s all about strengthening community spirit, supporting volunteers and fostering our vibrant region,” he said.

Stand Like Stone chief executive Anne Kerr said the grants epitomise the Limestone Coast’s generosity of spirit.

“Our vision at Stand Like Stone is to inspire community kindness and courage,” she said.

“Partnering with businesses such as OneFortyOne, who take such positive and meaningful action to support their community, enables us to realise our vision and deliver on our mission.

“As the only community foundation in the Limestone Coast, we will continue building on our region’s generous spirit, promoting investment in the Limestone Coast for lasting impact.”
