Big Egg Mark With Chickens TBW Newsgroup

YAHL residents Mark Kupczyk and Ana Costa received an “eggcellent” surprise when they checked their chicken coup on Wednesday afternoon.

The couple discovered a 139g egg in the pen, almost three times the regular size and a find Mr Kupczyk believes could be a regional record-breaker.

The Yahl resident said he was blown away with the discovery.

“I went out to give them their regular bread and overnight grain, when I saw it with two other smaller eggs,” he said.

“It was a big surprise and even though I grown up and been around chickens my whole life, I have never seen anything like it.

“We have had a few double yolks before, but they have never been this big.”

Mr Kupczyk showed his wife not long after making the discovery and she could not believe her eyes.

“She saw it in my hand before I even told her and she was blown away,” he said.

“We have bantam chickens, but from the colour we know it was from one of our ISA Brown chickens.

“We do have a few really gutsy chooks who always gobble up the scraps, so we are guessing the egg came from one of them.”

Mr Kupczyk said he wanted to film breaking the egg to see how many yolks were inside.

“We think there has to be at least four,” he said.

“It is definitely enough to make French toast or a really nice omelette.

“We think fresh eggs are always nicer in colour and a nicer flavour than store-bought.”
