THE ‘money tree’ established by the Millicent Social Issues committee at Millicent Public Library has proven popular and is providing residents with tips on how to budget effectively.

The tree sprouts ‘leaves of ideas’ from the public and features tips on how to make the most of what individuals have.

‘Leaves’ are available for people to write their tips and attach it to the tree to share with others.

Suggestions have included how to make a shopping list, plan meals ahead and buy only what is needed to prepare meals and other cost-cutting measures.

Individuals who provide go into the free raffle to win a slow cooker or a copy of The Barefoot Investor by Scott Pape, with a draw to be held on Tuesday.

The ‘money tree’ was set up on October 8 and will be displayed until tomorrow.

The committee’s display also consisted of brochures about available social services and networks, which were on show as part of Anti-Poverty Week.
