PHOTOGRAPHERS are invited to capture, explore and celebrate the diverse nature of the region by participating in the annual Wattle Range photographic competition and exhibition.

The annual exhibition captures the vibrancy and diversity of the Wattle Range region and since its inception in 2009, has developed to become one of the premier photographic exhibitions in South Australia.

Wattle Range Council library and cultural services manager Janice Nitschke encouraged all amateur and professional photographers to enter.

“The exhibition has proven to be an excellent opportunity for new and developing photographers to exhibit their images, be inspired and further develop their work,” she said.

“These many new entrants bring a fresh view of Wattle Range and what we often take for ‘normal’ now has a fresh meaning.

“The rise in popularity of social media over recent years has also allowed for everyone to ‘share’ this enthusiasm for photography.”

In 2019, an additional category has been introduced which aims to celebrate the impressive water landscapes across Wattle Range, including the Millicent Swimming Lake, the redeveloped Nangwarry and Penola Swimming Pools, Pool of Siloam and the lakes and waterways of Glencoe, Beachport and throughout the district.

Competition entries in all 10 categories are open until June 14 and details including forms and conditions of entry are available from the Council website or from Millicent Library.
Opening night is scheduled for June 21.
