THERE are plenty of bargains to be had as the Friends of the Millicent Library are currently undertaking a major sale of surplus books and DVDs.

Among them are cricketer Shane Warne’s autobiography for $2 and the 1967 DVD classic movie The Graduate for only $1.

The funds raised will be spent on items for the library.

Millicent Library manager Janice Nitschke said there were seven volunteers on deck in the Millicent Gallery on Tuesday to prepare the 500 books and DVDs for sale.

“We decided to use the Millicent Gallery as the sale venue while it did not have any displays init,” Ms Nitschke said.

“Some of the books have also been donated to us from our borrowers.

“Lots of libraries have book sales in February as a Library Lovers Month project.

“We usually sell our surplus books and DVDs at the visitor information centres at Beachport and Millicent,” she said.

“We are looking to refresh our bookshelves and reduce the foot print of the library.

“It will give us a more contemporary look and give us more space for programs.”

Ms Nitschke said the Millicent Library was looking to run more tech-based programs.

“I am in discussions with headspace and local schools and the programs may start on Tuesday nights in April.”
