New Miroma office officially opened

NEW BEGINNINGS: Miroma Incorporated operations manager Gael Ferguson, chief executive Annaliese Bates and board chairperson Kenny Goodes accept an official opening plaque from Mount Gambier Mayor Lynette Martin OAM during the opening of the facility’s Krummel Street office.

AFTER over three decades working from a carport and residential address, Miroma Incorporated’s staff and clients celebrated the grand opening of the new Krummel Street office last week.

Founded by a group of passionate parents, the facility has grown in leaps and bounds and continues to provide community-based support for people living with disabilities.

Initially opening its doors as Miroma Cottage in a residential home, the initiative attracted Federal Government funding.

Receiving an annual $10,000 injection over three years, the facility moved to embed itself in the South East community and broke away from traditional respite care previously provided by other South Australian agencies.

Since its formative years, Miroma Incorporated has moved to a larger residential home and in 2016 purchased a second property named Maruwa before moving into the new office.

Miroma Incorporated chief executive Annaliese Bates said she was incredibly grateful for the support the service had received over the years.

“The support we have received from the community over the very many years proves local community based organisations still remain valuable assets to our regional areas,” she said.

“The opening of our new site is a significant step in the history of our service.

“I’m proud to be part of an organisation that has continued to grow each year while being mindful and respectful of our client’s needs.

“I have been lucky to work alongside an an exceptional group of people who thrive on being part of our participants lives – everyone goes above and beyond.

“We have come such a long way and we are so happy to celebrate the next chapter.”
