Truck show to honour transport legends

GEARING UP: Outback Truckers television presenter Glenn “Yogi” Kendall – pictured at the 2017 event with Flynn Annett – will return to the Heywood Truck and Ute Show for the third time.

SIX new inductees will be welcomed onto the South West Road Transport Wall of Legends at this year’s annual Heywood Truck and Ute Show.

The new additions to the iconic tribute wall are among the many spectacles at the 2019 bumper-sized February 23 event, which includes trade stalls, displays and truck and ute competitions.

Held in conjunction with Heywood’s Wood, Wine and Roses Festival, the motoring component brings together truck lovers from across the country as they reflect on their time in the trucking industry.

Starting with a street parade at 11am, the event will be one to remember with a range of activities leading into the official unveiling of the South West Road Transport Wall of Legends at noon.

Outback Truckers television presenter Glenn “Yogi” Kendall will return to Heywood for his third event where he will join the likes of talented sketch artist Sullivan Sketching.

Children are encouraged to enter the colouring in competition to be in the running for a prize.

Festival classic the Vintage/Veteran Tractor Pull will again feature at the event, with the Khanacross – a track used to develop the skills of young drivers – will be open from noon, with registrations closing at 11am.

Attendees will have an opportunity to see a sneak preview of Dusty Roads and Diesoline Dreams, a film based around trucking legends.

Millicent’s Josh Burdon will soar to the sky in three Factory FMX performances, providing high-adrenaline live action demonstrations with motorcross bikes.

The event will also showcase the 2019 Aussie Truckers Calendar, which will see all profits donated to Warnambool-bsaed charity Let’s talk – Breaking Mental Health Stigma.

Gates open at 7am, with registration for the Rig of the Show competition and other competition categories closing at 11am.

The event will finish with fireworks at 10.30pm.
