Sculptor shapes art society direction

NEW APPOINTMENT: Mount Gambier artist Ivo Tadic has been appointed as the South East Art Society's new president.

NEW APPOINTMENT: Mount Gambier artist Ivo Tadic has been appointed as the South East Art Society’s new president.

SOUTH East Art Society has had a change of leadership with the appointment of new president Ivo Tadic.

Bosnian-born Tadic is well known in the South East art scene for his limestone sculptures which have been displayed around the region in numerous capacities.

Tadic also helped design and create pieces of interactive art at for the Mount Gambier Railway Lands project.

Julieanne Woodruff was announced as the society’s vice president.

The society also recently held its open day last month at The Stables.

Members are now gearing up for the society’s annual Open Art Awards which start on March 22 at the Riddoch Gallery, coinciding with the Fringe Festival.

The awards are open to artists using acrylics and oils, ceramics and textiles, photography, works on paper, sculpture and video.

All works are eligible for the open art award prize of $1500.

Entries for the awards close on March 8 at 5pm.
