MOUNT Burr Primary School students have proven they have “whatever it techs” in the classroom after winning an interstate competition using educational technology.

Social Ventures Australia teamed up with Samsung to give schools in South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales the opportunity to win prizes by creating a one-minute story and entering the #whateverittechs competition.

Students Rylan McKay and Blake Brant were handpicked as a winner from a large number of entries after sharing a slideshow they created.

The duo’s story included photographs and highlighted how technology – including tablets, programs and smart boards – are incorporated in and are a benefit to lesson time.

“We all have our own device to work on when it suits our learning,” the boys said in the sideshow they created.

“Technology allows us to collaborate with each other.

“Our work saves automatically when we are on Google Classroom.”

The pair said they were excited to receive two new Samsung tablets, a Gear Virtual Reality headset and phone to be used at the school.

The contest ran for a month and was open to Brightspots schools – a network of high-performing school leaders across Australia delivering exceptional results in low socioeconomic areas.

Selected entries were shared on the #whateverittechs website and social media channels.
