CEO stands ground over letter

TRANSPARENCY: Grant District Council chief executive officer David Singe.

GRANT District Council CEO David Singe has stood by his decision to place a scathing letter about the mayor in this week’s council agenda.

Mr Singe revealed he was approached by Mount Gambier Health Advisory Council (HAC) presiding member Maureen Klintberg.

He said there was “nothing more” discussed between the two parties than what appeared in the letter.

“I was approached whether I would meet Maureen and I said I would, which I would do for absolutely everybody,” Mr Singe said.

“What she had put in the letter was exactly what she said to me in the conversation.”

He said he placed the item in the agenda because it was a governance issue.

“It was not something as a CEO that I could or would deal with directly, it is not in my charter to do that under the Local Government Act,” Mr Singe said.

“I suggested to her that if the issue was as she explained, then she should write and put it to council.”
