A WATER fountain has been added to the Pinchunga aged care facility garden as part of an extensive restoration process.

The garden has been developed from an unusable space to an inviting area for residents, health facility patients and visitors.

The fountain was specifically donated by a Penola family in memory of Kingsley Moore and sourced from Sterling.

“The fountain is the latest addition to the garden,” Volunteer gardeners co-ordinator Janet Brodie said.

“The area was unusable beforehand and unattractive and now it is a gorgeous area for the residents to sit outside and utilise.

“They can enjoy nature while still under shelter.”
Ms Brodie believes the garden is beneficial for the physical and mental health of residents and patients.

A water feature was popular among residents and patients throughout the initial planning stages.

“When we were in the initial planning stages for the garden, all the residents and patients were asked what they wanted,” Ms Brodie said.

“Everyone wanted a water feature, so it was always going to be included.

“Since installed, the residents and patients have already been loving it.”

The fountain is completely self-sufficient.

“As long as the sun shines, it will work as it is solar powered,” Ms Brodie said.

“In the coming weeks we will also be including a kinetic wind sculpture which will complement the fountain nicely.”

Ms Brodie thanked the community for broad assistance on the overhaul of the grounds.

“We give a huge thanks to the community for their financial input,” she said.

“We would also like to thank the volunteers that come to our working bees.

“We have made the whole thing ourselves, which is wonderful.”

An official opening will be held next year once the garden is completed.
