Business waste conversion forum

POTENTIAL for Limestone Coast industry, businesses and primary producers to transform waste into energy and reduce their business costs will be highlighted at a forum next month.

Registrations are open for the Regional Development Australia Limestone Coast Bioenergy Seminar, which includes a presentation on economy benefits of biomass energy projects within the region and how producers can become involved.

The seminar will allow participants to identify fluctuating requirements, predict future demands and identify relevant and achievable energy solutions by analysing current energy consumption and site operations.

“We have been working hard to arrange a day that incorporates high calibre presenters, current information, hands-on learning and facilitated workshops,” RDALC investment attraction and infrastructure manager Elizabeth Perkins said.

“EcoWaste and Renewed Carbon guest speaker Mark Glover will be presenting the economic benefits of regions entering the emerging bio economy.

“Mark will also lead a discussion around large scale biomass projects occurring in other regions and what the opportunities might look like for our region.”

Bioenergy Australia representative Shahana Mckenzie will provide insight into international investment in Australian bioenergy.

Ms Mckenzie will also present findings from Bioenergy Australia’s state of the nation report ranking the states and territories’ bioenergy performance.

“Throughout the past years a number of local bioenergy initiatives have been developing in the region and some of these projects are applying world firsts in innovation,” RDALC chair Peter Gandolfi said.

“From anaerobic digestion to pyrolysis and gasification of wood residue, local businesses have been engaging with bioenergy technology to solve their energy needs and save money.”

Tandem Energy sustainability specialist Rachel Brdanovic will give participants a hands-on opportunity to understand their energy requirements and usage.

Visit the RDALC website www.rdalc.org.au or call (08) 8723 1057 to register for the event to be held December 6 from 8.30am to 5pm at Mount Gambier Old Town Hall.
