Man arrested for theft

A MAN has been arrested after he was caught breaking into cars at Bordertown early Wednesday morning.

About 2.30am, the occupants of a Salom Street home were awoken by noises and disturbed a man breaking into cars parked in the driveway and front yard.

The occupant confronted the man, but he ran off, leaving behind his wallet containing identification.

A UHF Radio, a purse and cash were stolen during the incident.

Police also found a bag left behind by the suspect which contained property believed to have been stolen from other incidents.

Bordertown police urge residents to check their homes and cars and report any thefts that may have occurred.

A 25-year-old man from Bordertown was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft and illegal interference with a motor vehicle.

He was refused police bail and was expected to appear in Mount Gambier Magistrates Court this week.
