School to celebrate golden anniversary

MILLICENT North Primary School (MNPS) is set to take a trip down memory lane this weekend in celebration of its golden 50th anniversary.

The two-day event will be held at the school grounds this Friday and Saturday.

An in-school celebration will kick off the festivities today and will include related learning activities, assembly and cake cutting with present day students.

Saturday will be an open day with a display in the gym and classrooms, including all staff photographs taken from 1968 to current day.

There will also be food and drink stalls and activities for attending children.

To finish the weekend there will be an evening celebration at the Millicent Football and Netball Clubrooms starting at 7pm with drinks, music and supper at a local venue.

The anniversary celebration event is being planned by a sub-committee of the school’s governing council.

Members of the “history committee” include Wendy Mariager, John Drew, Nan Minty, Glen Tilley, Noeleen Sneath and Gloria Garrett.
