Minister’s visit provides opportunity to address South East trade, tourism and investment

GETTING THE MINISTER’S EAR: Wattle Range Council chief executive Ben Gower, Rod Harrex, Oliva Nunn, Ashlee Garwood and Sam Croser at the event at Patrick of Coonawarra.

INDUSTRY leaders and business owners in the Wattle Range region were recently given the opportunity to meet with Trade, Tourism and Investment Minister David Ridgway.

Welcomed by Wattle Range Mayor Peter Gandolfi, Mr Ridgway attended an invitation-only session at Patrick of Coonawarra, which also included councillors, council staff and regional trade and primary industry personnel.

Mr Gandolfi said those attending raised issues around power and energy costs, lack of available timber resources, road and bridge access and commodity price variations.

Other discussions centred around the wine industry, tourism, trade and investment opportunities.

“This was a very successful event,” Mr Gandolfi said.

“The minister was able to spend time in a small group environment and listen to key issues on the subjects covered within his portfolio.”
