Friendship city relationship strengthened

INTERNATIONAL VISITOR: Longkou Municipal People’s Government Mayor Lyn Bo met with Wattle Range Mayor Peter Gandolfi as part of an international trip to the Wattle Range region on the weekend. Mayor Gandolfi showcased what the region had to offer, including the Patrick of Coonawarra winery.

THE Wattle Range region strengthened its friendship city relationship with a Chinese city last weekend with a visit from a Longkou delegation.

Last year, Wattle Range Council chief executive Ben Gower and Mayor Peter Gandolfi attended a trade visit in China, where they formally entered the friendship city relationship.

The agreement was signed at Longkou and bolstered opportunities for trade, commerce and cultural exchanges through cooperation by both local government bodies

Mr Gandolfi said it was pleasing to host a reciprocal visit to Wattle Range this year.

Headed by Longkou Municipal People’s Government Mayor Lyn Bo, the delegation stayed in Millicent.

Mr Gower and Mr Gandolfi accompanied the delegation during visits to Beachport and Coonawarra over the weekend and also attended the Millicent Lions Club changeover dinner.

The delegation included other Longkou government officials and the chairman of the Nanshan group.

Mr Gandolfi is hopeful the growing relationship between the two municipalities would lead to further economic opportunities.
