Head shave success

MAJOR MONEY: Seven members of OG Roberts and Co raised more than $12,000 for the Leukaemia foundation during the World’s Greatest Shave for the Leukaemia Foundation on Friday evening.

FOR every area of hair removed, more money rolled in for the Leukaemia Foundation at the OG Roberts and Co World’s Greatest Shave event on Friday evening.

As seven staff members lost their hair and eyebrows at OG Roberts Holden, generous people in the crowd continued to contribute to their fundraising efforts with the grand total reaching $12,900.

OG Roberts dealer principal Bryce Roberts was one of the participants who lost the last of his hair and was overwhelmed by the efforts of his team.

“It’s a cause that’s close to my heart,” Mr Roberts said.

“Aside from raising funds to support those who are battling blood cancer, it was great to pay tribute to the friends and family I have lost to this awful disease.”

Mr Roberts did his best rendition of auctioneer at the event and people threw their money in the ring for a chance to cut the hair off each participant.

One staff member Matt Pittman spontaneously joined in the head shave after someone offered a $300 donation if he shaved off his locks.

The event was supported by over 20 local businesses who provided prizes, food and drinks and cash donations.

Around 85 family, friends and staff members attended the shave event on Friday night to show their support and join in on the fun.

“I was truly humbled by the generosity of our community and the local businesses who supported us,” Mr Roberts said.
