PENOLA has welcomed a new president to its show committee with plenty of exciting activities set for this year’s event.

Kerry DeGaris has stepped up to the position with the Penola PA & H Society and said she is looking forward to seeing the community’s talents on full display in October.

Holding the position of vice president last year, Ms DeGaris said she had always had a love for the show, entering as a child and growing up with an artistic mother.

“I adore the Penola Show, it allows for those with talents other than sport to really showcase their skills,” she said.

The show will again feature an array of categories to take part in crafts, photography and baking, to name a few.

Ms DeGaris said she hoped to bring many people to the show over the Friday and Saturday night.

ABC’s gardening Australia presenter Sophie Thomson will feature at the show, providing gardening enthusiasts with her expertise.

Ms DeGaris said she was excited to see the Men’s Chocolate Cake Competition return with money raised potentially going towards funding men’s mental health initiatives.

“We hope to make this year’s competition bigger and better and are calling on any interested community members to partake,” Ms DeGaris said.

The show’s classics are set to return including the Five Favourite Feathers.

The new president said the event was a fantastic way to reflect on how vibrant and diverse the community
is.

“It is an agricultural show for an agricultural community, so come along and show your support for the local show,” Ms DeGaris said.
