Historic Holden showcase set for city

BACK IN TIME: Step back in time with O.G. Roberts Mount Gambier for their special Holden is Here to Stay event on November 25.

DELVE deep into the history of iconic Holden vehicles at a unique showcase hosted by O.G. Roberts Mount Gambier later this month.

The final Holden Commodore recently rolled off the Elizabeth production line and the factory is now officially closed, ending a manufacturing era.

From back in the horse and cart era, right to the very end, Holden has produced world-class motor vehicles, not only for Australia, but exporting to the rest of the world.

To pay tribute to Holden’s manufacturing achievements, history and important place in Australian society, the dealership will transform its Jubilee Highway sales showrooms and workshop floors to show a diverse collection of Holden vehicles.

Car lovers of all ages will be able to get up close to the first and last ever Australian built vehicles at the upcoming Holden is Here to Stay event on November 25.

Celebrating the history of Holden, O.G. Roberts dealer principal Bryce Roberts said the event would highlight the brand’s icons.

“We want to hold an event that recognises the community of people who care about the brand, its manufacturing heritage and its future,” he said.

“The event will include a hand selected range of Australian-made Holden cars, led by the first and last cars built in Australia by Holden, a 1948 48/215 (FX) right through to the 2017 VF II Limited Edition Motorsport Sedan”.

Not only will it be a celebration of Holden, the event will also highlight 60 years of O.G. Roberts in Mount Gambier.

The event is open to the general public and will be held at the O.G. Roberts Holden site on Jubilee Highway West from 9am to 12pm, November 25.

Attendees will also be given a sneak-peak at the new Holden Equinox which is not due in dealerships until December.
