NARACOORTE CATTLE

Numbers nearly doubled as agents yarded 1,049 head of liveweight and open auction cattle.

These sold to the usual array of trade and processor buyers along with feeder and restocker orders.

Quality improved this week with this being aided by some pens coming off supplementary feed, as the market sold to mainly dearer rates.

Vealer numbers were small as steers sold to 567c, and the heifers to 571c/kg.

Yearling steers to the trade made from 480c to 515c, with similar heifers making from 410c to 530c/kg.

Feeder orders sought steers from 440c to 582c, and heifers from 420c to 506c/kg. Restockers operated on steers from 526c to 566c, and on heifers from 490c to 570c/kg.

Grown steers and bullocks lifted in price by 15c to 20c, as they returned from 444c to 523c to the trade, with feeder activity from 450c to 504c/kg.

Grown heifers to the trade made from 323c to 475c, with feeders active from 410c to 446c/kg.

Manufacturing steers reached 390c/kg.

Heavy weight cows remained firm in price as they ranged from 312c to 350c/kg.

The lighter types to the trade made from 290c to 304c, with some strong feeder interest from 266c to 326c/kg.

Heavy weight bulls ranged from 290c to 350c/kg.

The light weight selection to feed on reached 549c/kg.

NARACOORTE SHEEP AND LAMB

Numbers rose as agents yarded 5,855 lambs and 600 sheep to total a combined 6,455 head overall.

These sold to a larger field of active trade and processor buyers along with a number of restocker orders.

Quality was very mixed with something on offer to suit all orders with some increased demand this week resulting in dearer markets for both the sheep and lambs.

Light lambs to the trade made from $154 to $167 with the lightweight trade 2 and 3 score types making from $168 to $180/head.

Restockers sourced a wide range of lambs to grow on with light Merinos making from $64 to $103 with the lighter crossbreds returning from $110 to

$170/head.

Trade weight 3 score lambs lifted $5 as they made from $179 to $191 to average around the 850c/kg cwt area with heavy lambs lifting $6 as they returned from $193 to $222/head.

Restockers were active here as well as they sought a line of heavy composite ewe lambs from $233 to $272 with the extra heavy lamb pens making from $224 to the market high of $275/head.

Hoggets ranged from $112 to $170 with light sheep making from $104 to $125/head.

Medium weighted sheep ranged from $154 to $175 with a lift here of $15 to $20 in price as the heavy lots made from $180 to $200/head.

Rams returned from $65 to $126/head.

Numbers more then doubled as agents yarded 1,393 head of liveweight and open auction cattle.

These sold to the usual array of trade and processor buyers with feeders and restockers present and active over the offering.

Quality improved this week with some heavy prime cattle in the bullock run as the market sold to some mixed results in price.

Vealer steers to the trade made from 515c to 572c with similar heifers making from 510c to 580c/kg.

Feeders sought steers from 510c to 565c with restocker activity this week from 580c to 609c on the steers and on heifers from 506c to 602c/kg.

Yearling steers ranged from 446c to 535c with similar heifers making from 424c to 490c with feeder orders active on steers from 450c to 530c and on heifers from 492c to 520c/kg.

Grown steers and bullocks eased 10c to 15c as they made from 375c to 490c with feeder support here from 403c to 520c/kg.

Grown heifers to the trade made from 340c to 470c with feeders active to 443c as manufacturing steers ranged from 330c to 372c/kg.

Heavy cows eased up to 6c as they made from 308c to mainly 348c with an isolated sale to 354c as the lighter selection returned from 240c to 296c/kg.

Feeders sought cows from 253c to 324c with restockers operating from 332c to 340c while bulls ranged from 280c to 345c/kg.

Numbers fell by over half when compared to the last sale on January the 19th as agents yarded 1,368 lambs and 145 sheep to total a combined 1,513 head overall.

The usual field of trade and processor buyers were present and mostly active along with a small number of restocker orders.

Quality was very mixed with something to suit most buyers on offer throughout the pens as the market sold to a mixed result.

Light lambs to the trade made from $66 to $120 with the lightweight trade types making from $138 to $161/head.

Restockers sourced lambs from $136 to $179 as the few trade weight lots returned from $173 to $180/head.

Heavy lambs were scarce as they made from $190 to $219 with the small number of extra heavy pens returning vendors up to $232/head.

Hoggets ranged from $138 to $172 with the lighter sheep making from $80 to $118/head.

Heavy sheep ranged from $127 to $165 as rams returned from $75 to $90/head.
