ANOTHER charity day to view Big Moo will be held at Glencoe tomorrow morning.

A $10 donation is requested to go towards HeartKids, which is a charity helping children with congenital heart disease.

The star attraction is believed to be the largest dairy steer in the nation, standing at 186cm and weighing 1.5 tonnes.

Public viewings of Big Moo are occasionally arranged by owner Jo Vine.

The event is being organised by Georgie Guess, who had her third open heart surgery in December 2017.

“After these surgeries I decided to be more open about congenital heart disease (CHD) and hope that my experiences can help make a difference to other children, adults and families living with this condition,” Georgie said on her fundraising social media page.

“I am inspired by the work of HeartKids and wanted to support them by raising money as part of my participation in HeartKids SA/NT Charity TV Challenge.

“The more people that know about HeartKids, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.”

HeartKids SA/NT state manager Tania Potts welcomed the Big Moo fundraiser.

“Fundraisers do not have to be boring and they certainly do not have to be conventional,” Ms Potts said.

“That is why in August, HeartKids Limited will send our brave participants to a secret location where they will experience adventure, thrills, laughter and life-changing moments – all while being filmed for a national television show, the HeartKids Charity TV Challenge.”

She said this was a chance for them to really test, challenge and learn about themselves while raising money for children with childhood (otherwise known as congenital) heart disease.

“We are so excited to watch as the challenge unfolds – and even more so to put all of the funds raised from this event towards improving the lives of our heart kids and their families,” Ms Potts said.

Statistics show eight babies in Australia are born every day with childhood (otherwise known as congenital) heart disease and four children each week lose their life to the illness.

Half the children diagnosed with CHD require surgery at some stage in their life.

HeartKids Limited provides support including accommodation, food vouchers and a shoulder to lean on during these difficult times.
