THE Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre has joined with the Adelaide Festival to bring the world premiere and opening night spectacular of Adelaide Festival to regional South Australia.

The theatre will be one of nine across regional South Australia to live stream the Adelaide Festival’s free opening event, called Macro, from the Adelaide Oval on Saturday March 5.

Macro combines the talents of electrifying local contemporary circus company, Gravity and Other Myths, with dance sensations Djuki Mala from North East Arnhem Land, featuring a 30-strong acrobatic troupe, a mass choir, ancient Celtic rhythms, fireworks and giant projection scrims in a fun, free family event that can be enjoyed across the State,” said Country Arts SA chief executive Anthony Peluso.

“With some of the most amazing artists all joining forces in one joyful electrifying spectacular show, who could ask for a better way to start the festival season.

“Live streaming the world premiere from the Adelaide Festival across our State means that as many people as possible can safely take part in the celebrations.

“This spectacular opening night will be a fun, beautifully produced event for families and friends to marvel.

“From their humble DIY origins, every show mounted by Gravity & Other Myths is founded to show what humans can do when they trust each other, support each other and urge each other to go further.”

The other venue in the South East to which the performance will be live-steamed is the Naracoorte Library.

The event is free but bookings are required.
