KASEY Chambers and Euan Doidge will appear on the bill of an upcoming musical reunion in the Limestone Coast.

The multi award-winning singer songwriter and Mr Doidge will attend next year’s Millicent High School musical reunion, with hundreds of alumni expected to return for the fundraising event.

The event is scheduled for the 2020 October long weekend and past and present high school music students are encouraged to attend.

While the event is still in the planning stages, event organiser Ms Watson said it had already attracted school council support, with principal John Shelton and interested performers also backing the event.

“We have been approaching people and have not had a ‘no’ so far,” Ms Watson said.

The two-day concert is planned to be held at the Civic and Arts Centre on October 2 and 3, 2020 with Friday being a seated occasion and Saturday being more of a cabaret.

“We are open to people’s suggestions and ideas, what they’d like to see,” Ms Jennings said.

Ms Watson said the idea came from her own experiences as a student and former staff member.

“I managed the canteen for the past 20 years and always look for ways to fundraise,” she said.

“I thought it would be nice to showcase the talent we have at our school and in the Lower South East.”

Securing Kasey Chambers and Euan Doidge is a coup for organisers as the pair are among the school’s most decorated performers.

Last year, Kasey Chambers was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame last year for her “cultural impact within Australia”.

In 2017, Ms Chambers was featured on ABC’s Home Delivery and took host Julia Zemiro back to Millicent High School to discuss her musical beginnings.

Euan Doidge is one of the nation’s premier performing artists and has landed leading roles in Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, Les Miserables and Kinky Boots.

Mr Doidge currently plays Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever.

After moving from New Zealand in his youth, Mr Doidge attended Millicent North Primary School and Millicent High School.

Ms Watson said musicians and vocalists of all ages and all genres were welcome to perform.

Funds raised will support Millicent High School, with a shaded outdoor area with furniture proposed as a project.

“The school is looking to revamp the foyer area,” Ms Watson said.
