CULTURAL ARTS FUND: Riddoch Art Gallery director Melentie Pandilovski welcomes the City of Mount Gambier’s cultural arts funding program.

MOUNT Gambier City Council’s cultural fund is open for applications with a total $25,000 available to local artists, community groups and not-for-profit organisations.

The fund will support the delivery of inspiring, creative and contemporary projects contribute to a connected, vibrant and culturally diverse community.

Up to $25,000 is available for project funding in three key areas, including a site-specific project at Commerce Arcade, an event aligned with the Mount Gambier Fringe Festival or an activity or event in the city.

“Council recognises cultural sharing and artistic expression build resilient communities with a strong sense of place and that is why we are seeking to fund projects that are highly visible and engaging for the community,” Riddoch Art Gallery director Melentie Pandilovski said.

“We want to see projects that stimulate cultural and artistic exchange and build community capacity, contribute to social wellbeing and produce high quality artistic works that celebrate Mount Gambier’s distinct arts, culture and heritage.”

“Projects may focus on, but are not limited to, performing and visual arts, literature, film, design, multimedia, history and heritage.”

Projects must align with the council’s Community Plan, Culture and Heritage Plan and Public Art Strategy with applications assessed against the priorities detailed in the program guidelines.

The guidelines are available on the council website with applications closing December 6.
