GETTING READY TO GIG: Mount Gambier stand-up comedian Tim Rochow is excited by the idea of performing his set alongside national and internationally acclaimed comedy acts as a part of the Lucindale One Night Stand.

LIMESTONE Coast comedians will have the opportunity to expand their audience as they perform on the eve of Triple J’s Lucindale One Night Stand.

Members of South East comedy group Ministry of Laughs will join visiting performers Josh Phillips, Amelia Ryand and Gerry-O at the Lucindale Hall as a prelude to the music festival.

Mount Gambier comedian Tim Rochow will perform at the September 13 showcase.

Planning to keep his set “as local as possible”, Mr Rochow said the event provided exposure for the region’s comedians.

“To see stand-up comedy here in the South East is huge, you usually have to go to Melbourne or Adelaide,” Mr Rochow said.

Mr Rochow said local, relevant material engaged audiences, adding the national and international artists would add to the performance.

“I usually try and keep my set about the local area, such as going out for coffee or traveling on the bus lines and I think that is what attracts locals to regional gigs, because it is something they can relate to.”

“Local themes, local stories, those types of jokes really keep people interested because if I were to talk about quantum physics most would not understand them,” the comedian said.

Mount Gambier’s Jamie Harding said the group was performing in Robe when approached by Triple J to organise the performance ahead of the music event.

“We have performed in Mount Gambier at the Fringe Festival over the past few years,” Mr Harding said.

“We were performing in Robe recently when we got headhunted by the Triple J board to put on a show on the Friday night.”

Mr Harding said the lineup would be fantastic once completely announced and show visitors region’s comedic talents.

The event takes place at Lucindale Memorial Hall on September 13 with tickets expected to sell quickly.

Encouraging the local audience to book well in advance, Mr Harding said people would talk about the event for months to come.

Bookings are available via the Try Booking website for $40.

Alongside the comedy night, Lucindale will also host a market day, quiz night and local produce market on the same weekend.
