WELCOME BOOST: Millicent Lion Allan Rolfe accepts $1000 from Millicent Business Community Association chair Lee Morgan for the upcoming Geltwood Family Fun and Market Day.

THE Millicent Lions Club has welcomed a four-figure donation from the Millicent Business Community Association (MBCA) for the upcoming Geltwood Family Fun and Market Day.

The service group accepted $1000 from the business association to assist with event costs.

MBCA chairperson Lee Morgan said the donation aimed to support the long-running street market, which has been coordinated by the Lions since last year.

“It’s a way for the busines community to support the Geltwood Festival because our local businesses benefit from the market day,” he said.

“It is a great community event and it highlights the best of what Millicent has to offer.”

Millicent Lions Club member Allan Rolfe said the additional event proceeds would enable more attractions at the popular event.

“The funding is a big help because it means we can provide more attractions,” he said.

“We have already organised a giant jumping castle for the kids which will be free and we have the billy cart races going again.

“There will also be a clown coming down from Adelaide to do circus tricks with the kids.

“It is going to be a hands-on experience and will hopefully add a bit of flavour to the day.”

The Geltwood Family Fun and Market Day will be held on April 15.
