AROUND 30 MJ Dance Studio students recently completed a series of ballet examinations to further their skills and gain recognition for their efforts.

As part of the Australian Teachers of Dancing organisation, students participated in the annual exams across a number of skill levels and age categories.

Studio director Maria Slape was thrilled with the 100pc pass rate achieved by her dedicated ballet dancers.

Students achieved results of highly commended and above.

“The studio has been doing annual exams with the Australian Teachers of Dancing for four years and I have seen a huge improvement in the standard of ballet at the studio,” she said.

“It definitely gives ballet students something to work towards and encourages them to set personal goals.

“We have seen a wonderful increase in ballet numbers over the past few years with a lot of students gaining a love of classical ballet.”

Ms Slape highlighted the achievements of Tennille Grubb and Jaclyn Proud, who completed their intermediate exam level with honours plus.

Three students received honours with distinction, which is the highest grade awarded.

Dancers Kiera McBain, Halle Anderson and Isabelle Wakefield each excelled during their exams to gain the top possible mark.

Ballet students are now preparing for the end of year concert at the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre this weekend.
