HATHERLEIGH 54 d PORT MACDONNELL 30
A STRONG performance by Hatherleigh saw the Eagles claim a win when they travelled to face Port MacDonnell in Round 7 of Mid South East netball.
The home side started well, with a first quarter score of eight to Hatherleigh’s 10, with the Demons’ Michelle Moore working hard through the centre against a tough Hatherleigh opponent in Sarah Faulkner.
Hatherleigh lifted in the second quarter to push the lead out to 10 goals at the main break, as Maddie Redman got her hands to many balls and plenty of strong rebounds.
Port MacDonnell came back in the third quarter, but a 17-6 scoreline favouring the visitors in the final term put the game to rest.
KALANGADOO 54 d ROBE 28
Kalangadoo was far too strong for Robe, with a comfortable victory which came off a sustained four-quarter effort.
Robe started the match strong, with the defensive combination of Alanna Campbell and Georgia Perkins causing some early turnovers, but Kalangadoo’s Mikaila Pitt utilised her height advantage over Asha Pettit and to create scoring opportunities for for the Magpies.
Abbey Duncan make the most of them, scoring 12 goals for the quarter to put the magpies up by six at the first break.
Much of the second term went goal-for-goal, with the Robe goalies Kimberley Austin and Sarah Laurie shooting accurately, but Kalangadoo increased its lead and went to the main break with an eight-goal advantage.
Both side made some changes at the break which worked well for Kalangadoo, as the Magpies ran the game out hard to increase the lead substantially and run out comfortable victors.
GLENCOE 65 d KONGORONG 26
Glencoe used another new line and claimed a big win over Kongorong.
Jorja Micthell was given a go in the senior ranks and she surely did not disappoint.
Mitchell and Emily Thompson combined well in the goal circle and were supported by Ashlea Edwards and Donna Jaeschke.
Thompson struggled with accuracy early on and Kongorong’s Riley Buckingham and Emily Lightbody contested well for the rebounds.
At the other end Glencoe’s Sarah Edwards and Bec Edwards played the space well and made it hard for Kongorong’s Sam Fox and Sarah Beare to have any clear options.
When Kongorong was able to get the ball to the post, Emalee Stokker and Ella McIntyre shot well, but Glencoe went to the main break with a 17-goal lead.
Both teams made changes at half time, including their centre to combat the warm conditions.
Stokker went out to goal attack to try to create some more drive for the Hawks through the middle and her positive talk ifted the team, as they started with the first three goals for the quarter.
However, Glencoe continued to build its lead and went into the last term 21 goals up.
From there it was all Glencoe as Emily Thompson scored 17 goals in the final term.
MOUNT BURR 80 d NANGWARRY 39
while Mount Burr recorded a big win over Nangwarry, the opening term showed some early challenges, with the Saints taking the game up to the Mozzies, but trailed by swix goals at the first break.
Mount Burr hit the court running in the second term, with centre Heidi Clark and wing defence Ann Guyett putting pressure on every pass and taking numerous intercepts before the ball entered Nangwarry’s goal third.
The result saw the Mozzies dominate the term with a 21-7 scoreline to increase the lead.
Nangwarry swung some changes at the main break, but again Mount Burr hit the ground running, as Laura Schultz drove hard and positioned well to feed Sara Nulty and Clarke.
By the final break the result was beyond doubt, as Mount Burr held a 30-goal lead and increased that to run out comfortable victors.
