THE drizzly weather last week deterred a few women from taking part in the first qualifying round of the handicap championships for 2021 and the rescheduled first round of the Collins Court Butcher Captain’s Trophy at the Blue Lake golf course.

In the end 16 women ventured out onto the course to play the stroke competition and to put scores on the board.

Division 1 winner Josie Ashby showed again she was able to put together a reasonable score which included a birdie on the dog-leg ninth hole and a par on the par 3 16th with splits of 48/47 (95-19-76).

Handicapper Dianne Perryman was a further three strokes behind posting 48/50 (98-19-79).

In Division 2 it was Lyn Annand showing the way and able to take the top voucher carding 119 -33-86 and due to low entrants there was no runner-up.

Nearest to the pin second shot on the par three second hole went to Division 1’s Sue Agars and the pro-shot winner was Bev Pascoe.
