Strong win in third round

ANDREA Pegler was a strong winner in the par competition last week when 39 women took to the Attamurra golf course in calm conditions for the third round of the Summer Salver.

After nine holes Pegler was square with the card but stepped up a gear to record four pars on the back nine to finish 4-up.

Lorraine Stratford and Heather Teakle both played steady games to finish 1-up but Stratford’s back nine afforded her the runner-up position on a count-back.

Jennifer Van Rijthoven lead the nine ball run-down winners who needed a score of 1-down or better.

The special prizes for the day were for the second shot on the 17th hole and the winners were Jennifer Van Rijthoven in A Grade, Di O’Donnell in B Grade and Gail Stephenson in C Grade.

Heather Barry was the most accurate on the eighth hole to claim the pro shot prize.

The final round of the Summer Salver will be played on April 7.

A stableford competition on Saturday saw 17 women participate and the in-form Van Rijthoven was again in the winner’s circle, finishing with 38 points.

A strong finish was a big feature of her score which included eight pars in her round.

One shot further back was Penne Saffin who claimed the runner up prize with 37 points.

Saffin’s accuracy paid dividends on the eighth and 16th holes to claim prizes for both.

Kerry Pedlar, Lyn Hudson, Vicki Clark, Di O’Donnell and Sharran Waters were the ball run-down winners.
