City helps raise students as nearly a dozen community-funded scholarships awarded

A DRIVE to succeed in their secondary education has paid off for a handful of Mount Gambier High School students.

The school recently announced the recipients of 10 diverse scholarships.

Year 10 student Bradley Male was awarded the $500 Joe Hannagan Memorial Woodwind scholarship for woodwind music lessons.

Year 12 students Jaimee Johns and Nicola Bowditch will both have the opportunity to pursue further study after Year 12, each receiving $500 through the UFS

Academic and Grant District Council scholarships respectively.

Excelling in all things sport, Year 11 student Claire Hunter was the Max Megaw Mount Gambier Rotary Club Memorial Sporting scholarship recipient which she will use to help with sporting-related travel expenses.

A tutoring opportunity valued at $2000 has been made available to Year 10 student Hayden Crowe after he was awarded the National Tutoring Centre scholarship.

Year 11 students Angel Aguinaldo, Sarah Dally, Mark Arthurson and Maddy Virgin were all recipients of the Mount Gambier High School canteen graphic calculator scholarship which will provide them all with a calculator for mathematical study.

Donated by the Brook family, the Squashbrook Fitness and Leisure Scholarship was awarded to Year 12 student Emily Thompson, providing her with a free gym membership for a year.
