BARRY Maney Volkswagen sales manager Nathan Lewis has made a donation to Kidney Transplant and Diabetes Research Australia (KTDRA) after winning an internal company competition last December.

The organisation – which supports ground-breaking translational medical research – will receive $500, after it was chosen by Mr Lewis in honour of his late cousin Adam Dixon.

Mr Dixon’s organs changed the lives of five lucky recipients when they were donated following his tragic death in a road crash on Kangaroo Island in 2014.

“He was an organ donor and helped better the lives of five other people and kidney transplant research has since been conducted thanks to money raised in his honour,” Mr Lewis said.

“It’s been a big part of his legacy moving forward.

“The salesman with the most sales during the December period got the opportunity to donate the money to a charity of choice, which was lucky enough to be me and I have chosen to contribute to the ongoing research by donating to KTDRA.”

Dealer principal Barry Stafford said the company offered the incentive for the sales department to donate to a cause close to their heart.

“We think this was a really quality choice and it is certainly something that means a lot to Nathan,” Mr Stafford said
