Christmas appeal to help brighten festive season

FESTIVE SPIRIT: Christmas appeal co-ordinator Imogene Ryan and SAL Real Estate manager Ian Flett are proud to present the local community with gifts this Christmas in collaboration with the Target Uniting Care Christmas Appeal. Picture: MOLLY TAYLOR

CHRISTMAS gifts are flowing through SAL Real Estate’s doors this festive season as the agency hosts a collection for the Target Uniting Care Christmas Appeal.

For the third consecutive year, the real estate team is encouraging people to provide support for those doing it tough over the festive season.

“If you would love to put a smile on a child’s face this Christmas, please bring in a new unwrapped gift for a girl or boy aged up to 18 years old and place under the Christmas tree at our office,” appeal coordinator Imogene Ryan said.

“We encourage both local businesses and community members to call into our office today with a present so they do not miss out as we will deliver presents early next week.

“The gifts will be distributed locally to underprivileged children through Uniting Care, Lifeline, Families SA and Limestone Coast Domestic Violence Centre.”

Ms Ryan has worked closely with Uniting Care Mount Gambier coordinator Jan Stafford throughout the process.

She is hoping to build on the number of gifts collected last year.

“In 2017 we collected over 50 presents, so we are hoping to get to 100 because we wanted to go bigger and better than last year,” she said.

“At the moment we have over 60 presents, but if local businesses and community members jump on board we may make our goal.”

Ms Ryan said the campaign was one way SAL was giving back to the community.

“If you do not have a gift in mind you can donate money and we will select a gift for you,” she said.

“There are a lot of lucky children that do get to wake up to presents, but then there are others that do not.

“Your kindness is appreciated to give families a helping hand this Christmas.”

SAL Real Estate manager Ian Flett said he was proud of the effort by staff to back the campaign.

“It is great we can support the community in this way,” he said.

SAL has pledged to support the appeal in future years.
