A MILLICENT residence has been targeted by a suspected arson attack for the second time in just over a month.

Emergency services responded to a suspicious fire at the English Drive property at around 8.40pm on Monday.

The house’s sole occupant, a 54-year-old Millicent woman, raised alarm bells after calling triple zero when she noticed a fire by the side entrance door.

The Millicent Country Fire Service crew was able to get the blaze quickly under control and there were no reported injuries.

Police said they believe the fire was deliberately lit and while there was no evidence any accelerant was used, the suspected arsonist most probably started the fire with rubbish.

The side entrance door, ceiling and hallway were extensively damaged as a result of the incident and the value of the repair bill was unknown.

Police investigations are continuing into the incident.

This is the second time the property has been targeted this year with the first attack occuring on October 20.

It resulted in the resident being taken to hospital for smoke inhalation and being kept overnight for observation.

A pile of newspapers was deliberately set alight near the same side entrance door under the carport.

Damages were around $2000 and no-one was arrested for the incident.

Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
