All roads lead to Dartmoor

ACTION APLENTY: Dartmoor will come alive next weekend when the Casterton Sporting Motorcycle Club hosts rounds eight and nine of the Yamaha Victorian Off Road Championships.

IT will be all action next weekend when the Casterton Sporting Motorcycle Club hosts rounds eight and nine of the Yamaha Victorian Off Road Championships.

The event will take place at Pennies Road, five kilometres north of Dartmoor, on the property of Malcolm Davies.

In a coup for the Casterton club, it is the first time a VORC round has been held in the west of the state for several years.

The two-day event will kick off around 7.30 Saturday morning, July 21, with a number of junior classes competing in a 1.5-hour enduro over an 18km course through bush and open grassland.

Following the completion of the junior race the open age competitors will head off on the same circuit, which will see amateur riders race for two hours and the pros continue on for a further hour to complete the gruelling three-hour event.

On Sunday the riders in all classes are back out on the track to compete in the sprint section of the event where the track is split into two 9km loops.

Some of off-road racing’s top male and female junior and senior riders in the country will be fighting it out on the track with the likes of Daniel Milner, Daniel Sanders, Lyndon Snodgrass and Fraser Higlett all chasing championship points.

The event is not restricted to the elite of the sport, so the VORC organisers encourage any local male, female or junior riders to participate in what promises to be a great event with classes to suit riders of all abilities.

A Motorcycling Australia license is required to compete and an event licence will be available to purchase on the day.

The event will be fully catered for by the Dartmoor Primary School on Saturday and Sunday with on-site camping available from Friday afternoon, with toilet facilities set up close to camping area.

All spectators welcome.
