Wine region on show overseas

COONAWARRA vignerons are among representatives of 51 Australian wine regions showcased at Vinexpo Hong Kong, the largest-ever international celebration of Australian wine.

People from seven Coonawarra wineries have travelled to Hong Kong for this week’s international trade event, which is expected to attract more than 17,000 visitors over three days.

Blok Estate Coonawarra, Highbank Vineyards, Hollick Estates, Jim Brand Wines, Ladbroke Grove Wines, Parker Coonawarra Estate and Penley Estate Coonawarra will showcase their wines at a regional Coonawarra bar in addition to their own booths.

Coonawarra Vignerons executive officer Olivia Nunn will accompany the wineries featuring at the event and is excited about the opportunities the event provides.

“Vinexpo is a fantastic platform for all seven wineries to showcase their wine internationally,” Ms Nunn said.

“In addition to the regional bar presence, Coonawarra will be presenting two masterclasses hosted by Jeremy Oliver.

“These masterclasses will introduce Coonawarra’s classic combination for cellaring and our single vineyard estates, with a focus on cabernet sauvignon.”

Although not featuring at the regional bar, Wynns Coonawarra Estate and Petaluma wines will also be in attendance at the event.

Vinexpo Hong Kong 2018 will host over 1300 international trade-producers from the major wine and spirits producing regions around the world.

Wine Australia chief executive Andreas Clark said the record showcase would help the 17,000 trade and media representatives who are expected to attend to understand what is great about Australian wine and the authenticity, camaraderie and innovation of our Australian winemakers.
