CHRISTMAS treats, cars, decorated bikes, and traditional Scottish music will feature in this year’s Penola Christmas Street Party, offering an afternoon packed with activities for the family to enjoy.
The event will be held on Friday, December 22, in Penola Memorial Park from 4.30pm until 8.30pm, with the Lions Club of Penola providing a free barbecue.
A jumping castle will be available from 6pm for children to enjoy and they will also have the opportunity to use their imagination and skills to decorate their bikes as part of a competition.
“The principals of the three Penola schools will have the tough task of judging the popular competition,” Penola and District Business and Tourism Association president Eleanor Burrow said.
The Penola and District Caledonian Pipe Band will again entertain the community, while Santa will make an appearance, providing confectionery and water pistols for children.
“Coonawarra Vignerons will have a pop-up bar and a coffee van and doughnuts will also be available,” Ms Burrow said.
An array of muscle cars will be on display throughout the afternoon organised by community members Snow Merrett and Jeff Pahl.
The winners of the Stuffed Santa competition will be announced at the event, which this year is organised by Koonara Wines.
“The day will be a fun and fantastic community event for all ages to enjoy,” Ms Burrow said.
“It has been great to see the whole community get behind and support the annual Christmas event.”
