A LONG-RUNNING Christmas tradition will continue in Millicent on Sunday when members of the Millicent Choral Society present the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.
It will be presented at 3pm at St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church.
The service will be led by Millicent parish priest Father John Thompson and the choristers will be under the direction of long-time conductor Michael Bleby.
Millicent’s annual Festival of Lessons and Carols has developed a loyal following over the past 30 years and it has been held in various churches in Beachport and Millicent.
Many of the elements of the Millicent presentation including Bible readings will come from the world-famous Festival of
Lessons and Carols which was first held on Christmas Eve in 1918 at the Chapel of King’s College, Cambridge, England.
It is a fundraiser for the Christmas Bowl which is an ecumenical overseas aid agency.
Later that night, the Millicent Choral Society will also take part in the annual Carols in the Shearing Shed event which will be held in the Millicent Showgrounds Shearing Shed at 7.30pm.
The program includes items by other guests, a children’s segment and community carol singing.
It will be the last opportunity for Wattle Range Mayor Peter Gandolfi to present a message ahead of his retirement from office in November, 2018.
