Shoppers given chance to win big

ELFIE SPOTTED: Charlotte Uthenwoldt spotted Elfie at the Treehouse Play Cafe this week. SNAPPING a selfie with Mount Gambier’s resident Christmas elf is putting local shoppers in the running to win big this month.

The Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce launched its innovative “Selfie with Elfie” Christmas campaign last week, with one lucky family already claiming the first of five $200 local shopping gift vouchers.

Over the next four weeks, Elfie will be spotted at local businesses, where shoppers can take a selfie with him and upload the image to Facebook or Instagram to go into the draw to win a $200 voucher to be spent at any chamber member business.

Chamber president Lynette Martin said the campaign was launched to encourage people to shop local and get into the Christmas spirit.

“Shoppers have been seeking him out, which is excellent,” Ms Martin said.

“Our week one winners went on an Elfie hunt – Jodi Kemp and her children Shawn and Joanna tracked him down at ASW Lawyers on Thursday.

“The Kemp family chose to spend their $200 voucher at chamber member Banner Mitre 10.”

Participating shoppers simply need to use the hashtag #SelfieElfie to enter the draw.

Winners will be announced via Facebook and Instagram every Friday afternoon of the campaign.

“Elfie has visited seven businesses so far and he will be in store at over 20 businesses,” Ms Martin said.

“The gift vouchers can be used in more than 140 chamber member businesses.”

Ms Martin urged shoppers to support local traders in the lead-up to Christmas.

“We remind everyone to visit the Chamber of Commerce Facebook page to see where Elfie is each day, track him down and spend time browsing our stores,” she said.

“We encourage people to shop locally whenever possible and we look forward to seeing everyone’s selfies with Elfie.”
