SILENCE filled Penola High School classrooms over the past few weeks as nervous Year 12 students sat their highly anticipated exams for the year.
The two week exam period started with the biology test and ended last Thursday.
Penola High School deputy principal Jason Plunkett said students managed the stress well and turned up to exams promptly after using their time effectively and efficiently to study.
“We have 15 Year 12 students this year and they each have career counselling to ensure their options are kept open for whatever path they choose to go down following Year 12,” Mr Plunkett said.
“It is not unusual for students to not know what they want to do following school, so it is important for them to pick a topic that also interests them such as art or drama.”
He said English and general mathematics were wise subjects to continue to gain entry into university.
Penola High School Year 12 student Dan Meek-Fennell was calm before heading into his information technology exam last Tuesday.
“I am not sure what I want to do following school, but I am lucky I have not been too stressed out about it and have continued to keep my options open,” Mr Meek-Fennell said.
The deputy principal said around half of the students look to attend university after Year 12, with others hoping to start working a trade.
