It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

CHRISTMAS SPIRIT: Mount Gambier City Council’s David Hurley strings lights around the six-metre Christmas Tree at the Main Corner. Council will continue to decorate the city’s central business district with wreaths and stars this week ahead of the annual Christmas parade. Picture: BRITTANY DENTON

THE towering six-metre Christmas tree at the city’s Main Corner was decorated with baubles, bows and lights yesterday morning, marking the beginning of the festive season.

Members of the Mount Gambier Lioness Club assisted Mount Gambier City Council with the construction and decoration of the tree as council prepares to roll out garlands, wreaths and large stars across the central business district.

Christmas decorations went up at the old town hall and Main Corner on Sunday, as did the familiar Christmas banners along Commercial Street.

The civic centre and library will be decorated this week, while remaining decorations will go up along Helen Street, Sturt Street and James Street ahead of the annual Christmas parade.

K&S Freighters donated the delivery of decorations from Sydney for the 2017 Christmas parade.
