Seniors month finale

SENIORS Month concludes this afternoon with the Senior of the Year Award presentation at the Millicent and District Community Club.

The much-anticipated announcement will be made by Wattle Range Mayor Peter Gandolfi.

Live music and finger food will be part of festivities for the last Seniors Month event for this year with organisers asking those attending to wear a cocktail hat.

There will be prizes for the best and most amusing male and female hat.

If the practice of past years is followed, there will be a good representation from Boneham Aged Care Services and Banksia House.

Dozens of well-attended Seniors Month events have been held across Millicent and district throughout October.

Much of the catering has been undertaken by Millicent Lions Club members who have cooked doughnuts, sausages and popcorn depending on the nature of the event.

The Lions provided a barbecue lunch for 55 people who attended the Seniors Month function at Lake McIntyre on Wednesday.
Among those attending were retired Millicent couple Len and Dawn Cory.

Len said they enjoyed the Lake McIntyre outing in 2016 and decided to return this year.

“We walked around the lake prior to lunch,” Len said.
