LONG-TIME Boandik chairman Bruce Ridland was among many dedicated locals recognised for their years of service to the organisation at an annual general meeting earlier this month.
A total of 49 men and women who have supported the organisation for 10 to 35 years received awards for their time and effort with a special thank you going to Mr Ridland, who served as chairman of the board for a number of years.
“It’s been most enjoyable to be part of a great team during the organisation’s progression and development,” he said.
“Being part of the board has been a privilege and it was a thrill to serve with both past and present chief executive officers.
“They have done and do a fantastic job – full credit goes to them for the part they have played in the organisation being so well accepted by the community.”
Although taking a small step back with his involvement with the organisation, Mr Ridland said he will still be involved on a volunteering basis.
“Throughout this year I have held a number of photography workshops with residents at St Mary’s on a monthly basis,” he said.
“It has been announced this will continue on next year – I still have a deep interest in what is going on with the organisation.”
Chairman Andrew McGregor said the multi-million dollar community based group placed great value on its volunteers with the strong attendance at the meeting showcasing the value placed on Boandik, not only by those benefiting from its services, but the community generally.
Four nominees Colin Martin, Sandra Parsons, Andrew McGregor and Graeme Earl were also elected at the meeting to the board of directors to fill remaining position.
The financial report was presented by Ken Stafford noting that Boandik currently provides services to 880 clients throughout the South East and the organisation reported a surplus of $710,987 for the year with all surplus funds utilised to improve the environment and equipment for current and future clients.
