LIMESTONE Coast police have been busy on the roads over recent days, with eight drivers reported for drug driving between Saturday and Tuesday.
A 26-year-old Penola woman was the first offender caught at around 12.45am on Saturday when she was stopped for a driver screening test on Wireless Road East.
She delivered a positive result for methamphetamine.
A few hours later at around 5.15am, police stopped a 45-year-old Mount Gambier woman for a driver screening test on Penola Road.
She was drug tested and provided a positive result for methamphetamine.
Both women will receive fines for drug driving.
The following morning at around 3am, police stopped a 30-year-old Mount Gambier man driving on Penola Road due to faulty lighting on his vehicle.
His drug test a provided a positive result for methamphetamine.
He was also found to be driving with an expired licence.
On Monday, police stopped a 21-year-old Mount Gambier man for a driver screening test on North Terrace at around 12.15am.
He returned a positive result for methamphetamine and was also reported for driving without ever having held a licence.
The man’s car was impounded for 28 days and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
A short time later, a second 21-year-old Mount Gambier man was stopped for a driver screening test on Kennedy Avenue at around 2.15am.
The man provided a positive test for methamphetamine and will receive a fine for drug driving.
A 31-year-old Henley Beach truck driver was detected drug driving when he was stopped by a Mount Gambier Highway Patrol officer for a heavy vehicle inspection on Riddoch Highway a Tarpeena at around 10.10am.
The man provided a positive result for methamphetamine and will be reported for drug driving and log book offences.
He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
Another truck driver was stopped by a Mount Gambier Highway Patrol officer for a heavy vehicle inspection on the Riddoch Highway near Nangwarry at 1.20pm on Monday.
The 36-year-old Mount Gambier man was drug tested and provided a positive result for methamphetamine.
He was reported for drug driving and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
The following morning, patrols stopped a 30-year-old Mount Gambier man driving on Howard Street as checks on his registration showed it to be expired.
The man provided a positive result for methamphetamine and will receive an expiation notice for drug driving.
He also received a fine for driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle and driving with an expired licence.
