Rodeo a fair catch

RODEO WINDFALL: Beneficiaries and sponsors of the Penola Rodeo celebrate $30,000 worth of fundraising from five years of the event.

THE Penola Rodeo has generated donations of a remarkable $30,000 to the Penola War Memorial Hospital over the past five years, assisting with funding of vital equipment.

The equipment has improved services for both the aged care residents and those admitted into the hospital for acute care.

Donations have funded hospital beds, a showering trolley, banquet cart for improved meal service, cabinetry and furniture for rehabilitation and fencing.

“The fencing was at the request of the Pinchunga residents to provide a boundary to their facility,” Penola War Memorial Hospital nurse unit manager Corinne Galwey said.

Penola Rodeo sponsors and members of the Penola War Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Pinchunga residents recently celebrated the success of the rodeo and the generous donations from the event.

The rodeo will once again be held in Penola next year on February 14.

“We hope to raise further funds to be used to buy patient transfer equipment, which costs nearly $10,000,” Ms Galwey said.

“Such equipment supports the creation of a happier environment for both staff and those in care.”
