BONEHAM Aged Care Services will be a hive of activity next month for the facility’s biggest fundraising event.
Hundreds of visitors are expected to attend the Williams Road site on October 14 to browse the many stalls on offer at the Boneham Fete.
La Fromelle’s Cafe courtyard will be packed full of homemade treats while shoppers peruse through bric-a-brac, local craft and produce and baked treats.
Boneham Aged Care Services leisure and lifestyle coordinator Deb Cavanagh said all money raised on the day would go back into improving the quality of life for residents.
“We would really like to buy some outdoor furniture for the residents to use,” she said.
“We have a few garden beds and outdoor areas that don’t have any furniture and the residents have asked for some.
“Ideally we’d like some outdoor settings and some Jack and Jill type chairs with tables in the middle.
“There are four sections that could do with some furniture because the residents like to sit in different sections.”
The annual event is in its ninth year and sees residents participate in the fete by contributing items for sale.
“We’re starting to cook this week, which is always fun,” Ms Cavanagh said.
“On the day we’ll have pasties, lamingtons, doughnuts and hot dogs and Asian foods.
“We made all the jams and tomato relishes earlier in the year and a resident has been busy planting onion and tomato seedlings for the fete and even propagating plants.
“A couple of our residents help out on the stalls and wrap lucky dips for us and there’s another one that sells the raffle tickets.
“We want our residents to have a sense of belonging because it’s good for them to feel included.”
