A BUSINESS networking event at the Main Corner Complex next weekend will allow people to have their technology and connectivity questions answered.
Mount Gambier City Council’s free Business Tech Show – Into the Future will be held on the Kings Floor, next Friday from 3pm to 6pm.
South Australian Innovation Minister Kyam Maher will be a guest speaker at the event, which will showcase developing technologies, including virtual reality, drones and video conferencing.
City Council tourism and economic development manager Donna Foster said the event would highlight the importance of connectivity and the impacts and opportunities existing and developing technologies offer local businesses.
“The latest technology has the potential to change the way we do business, whether it’s with the use of virtual reality, headsets, 3D virtual tours, new business applications or drones,” Ms Foster said.
“This show is a great chance for people to engage in a discussion to gain confidence and a better understanding of what steps they may need to take to further strengthen their business in the digital space – it’s an opportunity for people to be exposed to new ideas and leading technology with assistance from experts in the field.”
National Broadband Network representatives will be on hand to discuss access to fast broadband while internet service providers including Optus, Telstra and Activ8me will provide business plan options.
The event is in collaboration with local businesses.
“Bring your business card to the event to go into the draw to win an iPad,” Ms Foster said.
“There is also a chance for you to win an Ubiquiti Amplifi Home Wireless System.”
Following the business event, the wider community is invited to explore, see, share, touch and play with cool technologies at the Mount Gambier Library’s Innovation Lab next Saturday between 10am and 1pm.
